Garissa Water and Sewerage Company

Garissa Water and Sewerage Company (GAWASCO) operates within Garissa Township of Garissa County. The utility was incorporated under the Companies Act (Cap 486) of Kenya as a public company limited by shares in 2006. GAWASCO provides and distributes a sustainable supply of potable water for commercial, industrial and domestic purposes, and is charged with the provision, control and maintenance of sewerage services including treatment and disposal within the service area. We serve Garissa township and its environs covering 65km², and under the Garissa Water Act (2018) our mandate extends to the entire county. Our water is sourced from River Tana (80% of production) and groundwater boreholes at Ziwani, AFTC, Iftin, ADC Farm and Maramtu (20%).
